For the easter long weekend, my best friend and I headed to Sydney to spend the weekend with a friend of ours. While we were there, we all decided to take a train out to a little place called Brewtown Newtown - which is well known for the amazing food, coffee and drumroll please.... CRONUTS!
I'm usually a bit of a picky eater and I tend stick to the things I know: pasta, pasta, pasta, steaks, anything potatoes, noodles, yum cha and the list goes on and on...... So surprise surprise, when I read the menu, I was pretty hesitant to try something new. I almost just went for something plain and boring but after tossing up between the:
1. Linguine, Garlic Chilli Prawns, Kale and Parmesan Pasta
OR
2. The Corned Beef Hash with Garden Peas and Parmesan Crumbs
I did something out of the ordinary and I went for... OPTION 2. Let me tell you it was AMAZINGGGGGGGG. Seriously....it was probably the best breakfast I've ever had! - Yes, that good, too good. All the elements just worked so well together, the beef and peas were delicious; Just delicious. PLUS I got a side of hash browns (the balls on the plate) which were pretty average but I think the sauteed mushrooms would have complemented the dish a LOT better. Two of the girls, ended up getting the pasta and it was melt in your mouth DIVINE. The food definitely blew us out of the water and I am super excited to one day return.

To end the meal, we HAD TO try the cronuts. I chose the sugar glaze, and the other girls chose the Chocolate Crumble and the Salted Caramel. I have to say the sugar glaze was the BEST out of all three. Sometimes simple is better and in this case it completely was. The choc crumble was spread too thick and was quite rich for my tastes (the other girls enjoyed it though) whereas the salted caramel was too gooey for my liking but all in all, a great great experience at Brewtown. I would definitely recommend it!
