Acne has always been my worst enemy, however I was fortunate to not have severe acne. Like so many of you out there, I feel as though I've tried everything! Disappointingly, nothing worked for me. I ended up going on the pill (Estelle) to help try clear it up. I'm not too sure if it actually worked because me being me, I never actually took it consecutively. I was very wary about the potential effects the pill might have on my body and so It kind of scared me to take it. I was on and off it for under a year I think? Even so, I think it may have aided in minimising my breakouts.
A few of the brands I've tried include: Proactiv, Mario Badescu, Neutrogena,, Nivea, Simple and Obagi to name a few.
After no luck with those products, I decided to invest in the Foreo Luna. It's weird because I had heard about the Clarisonic for so long and could never justify spending the $150+ for it. I heard so many people rave on and on about it and had it sitting in the cart so many times but I never went through with it. I heard one thing about the Foreo, did a teeny bit of research and watched a few YouTube reviews and BAM. I purchased it three days later. What really sold me was the hygiene factor associated to the rubber bristles/bumps and the fact that I wouldn't need to repurchase new brush heads yearly for it. I used it religiously for a couple of months and noticed that it slowly worked in minimizing my acne but not all of it. Nonetheless, the Foreo is still a great product.
After trying so many products and seeing minimal results, I started to believe that my acne would never go away. Fortunately for me, my mum told me to try cleansing my skin with a lemon. Yes, you did read that correctly, a lemon!
Now when she told me, I was completely sceptical and also believed she was completely nuts. How would lemon help with anything? It's so acidic and I felt like it would sting... a lot! BUT she forced me to try it and to be completely honest I've been using nothing but a lemon as a cleanser for about 2 months now. I stopped for a week as I went on holiday and let me tell you, during that week I broke out instantly.
All I do with it is wet my face, slice a lemon (placing the remaining part into a container and back into the fridge) and rub the lemon all over my problem areas. Then after that I rinse it off and pat my face dry. That's it, no complicated steps. It's just super easy and quick.
I'm not gonna lie, the very first time I tried it, my face felt super itchy and stung quite a bit so I immediately washed it off. The next night, it didn't itch as much and now I don't feel any itching or stinging at all. I used to hate the smell of lemon but now its the only thing that makes my skin feel super clean. I'm not sure if its the lemon or my face cream (I used the Burts Bees night cream) but my face looks and feels a lot healthier and glowier - if that makes sense. So that folks is my little secret!
Another miracle product that actually works in minimising breakouta is the Mario Badescu drying lotion. It's the only product that works to really zap that zit. I would not hesitate in recommending it, seriously.. it works!
So thats all I really wanted to share. If you do try it, leave me a comment and let me know if it worked for you. There are so many articles on the Internet that state the benefits of using a lemon, so definitely do your research first to make sure it would be suitable for you.
Hope you all have a lovely day!
