Today I thought I'd talk about dun dun dun dun....EYE MAKEUP REMOVERS. I've trialled and tested my fair share, so I figured why not share a bit of my knowledge and my experience with you guys? I mean maybe some of you guys are tossing up between a few or maybe you're even looking to try something new, if so..this is the post for you!
In terms of makeup removers, we can categorise this into two types: waterproof removers and I'd say normal removers. As the name states, waterproof removers make it possible to remove waterproof liners and mascaras. Visually you can tell by the two toned colours in the formula. These show the "dual phase" feature of the removers. Shaking the bottle combines the two parts and somehow that allows the waterproof-ness of your makeup to be removed.
I've always used the L'Oreal Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover and have repurchased this numerous times. I like how the formula is gentle, not oily and doesn't leave a grease slick across my face whilst trying to remove my makeup. I actually picked up the normal remover (pictured above) instead of the waterproof one and I do like it as well. Like I said, I have used this so many times and would definitely recommend it!
Next up is the Garnier 2in1 Express Eye-Makeup Remover, also a great remover. This is the second bottle I've purchased as its super affordable and does the job well. It's the same size as the L'Oreal remover but its a smidgen cheaper, a tiny bit more oiler and has some ingredient in it that aims to strengthen the lashes. This one I feel is on par with the L'Oreal remover, for once I have an actual tie on what remover I would crown my favourite as they both are! Definitely recommend it!
The Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover is probably the priciest remover I've purchased. However, it is also the remover with the most product. I purchased this on a whim whilst visiting the Sephora store in Sydney. I got sucked into it... I SWEAR. Its one of those products I saw while I was in line waiting to be served and yes... I study marketing.. I know the tactics YET I was sucked in anyway. I don't regret purchasing this however, I probably wouldn't repurchase based solely on the fact that the other two removers I already mentioned do the same job for a fraction of the price. It is pretty to look at but it's not worth it.
Last but not least is the Revlon ColorStay Gentle Eye and Lip Makeup Remover. I left this for last as it is very much so my least favourite. 1. It's also super pricey at $19.95 (I got mine on sale) and 2. It's too oily. I would not repurchase nor do I recommend this to anyone. Yes it removes the makeup BUT the formula is FAR TOO OILY! I have to use a wet wipe just to remove the remnants of the slick of oil it left across my eye area. Maybe this was designed for people with dry skin so it I don't know hydrates their skin? BUT who am I kidding, I think it's not worth your hard earned cash and you are far FAR better off going for the Garnier or L'Oreal removers.
Thats all I have to say about removers, I also have two Micellar Waters I used to use a lot (I use them more so occasionally now) that I can talk about if you want to hear more. I think next post or a future post I'll be writing about face wipes.. I KNOW super exciting right?! Damn straight, get excited ladies and gents, next post will be about wipes... MWAHAHAHA.
